Grecians get Brazilian President on board for Centenary encounter

Exeter City are planning to enlist the help of the president of Brazil on their mission to lure the world champions to St James’s Park in 2004.
Echo Sport reported last week how club supporters were attempting to arrange a glamour friendly with the full Brazilian national side.
The match would form the centrepiece of City’s centenary celebrations and re-enact an historic meeting between the two teams in 1914.
Grecians co-chairman Uri Geller has now vowed to lend his support to the idea – and will make a beeline straight to the summit of Brazilian politics.
“I shall be contacting President Cardosa of Brazil to ask him to use his influence on the national team,” he said.
“This is another important venture for Exeter City following hot on the heels of a successful Michael Jackson visit to St James’s Park.
“A visit in two years’ time from the Boys from Brazil will be most appropriate as we shall be celebrating our centenary in 2004.
“This would be the centrepiece of our centenary festivities, a magnificent way to mark this occasion.
“Everything is possible through positive thinking, willpower and determination.”
